When You Arrive

Where to Park
 

  • We are staying in Marchetti Towers East. Those of you driving will be parking on the Saint Peters parking lot:

  • When you arrive, park in one of the spots in front of Marchetti Towers East. At the front door, the front desk attendant will buzz you in.

  • Pick up your parking hang tag and parking pass from the attendant when you check in to the dorm.

  • Place your hang tag in your car and move your car to the Saint Peters lot, using your pass to get through the gate.


Checking In


All guests will be staying on floors 4 and 5 of Marchetti Tower East.  When you arrive, you will be buzzed into the lobby, where a front desk assistant will hand out room keys and parking passes. Bed linens will be in your room.  A Communication Department staff member will also be on hand to welcome you and answer questions.

 
We will be hosting a hospitality suite in room 412.  Please feel free to stop by to grab a snack, soda, beer or wine and spend time with your fellow attendees during your down time.

Housing

Conference attendees will stay in the Marchetti East dorm at Saint Louis University.

​

These are dorm apartments with a kitchen (refrigerator/stove/sink) and bathroom in each. Dorm apartments are both single and double occupancy, but individuals will have their own room. Bed linens (pillow case, 2 sheets, one towel, one washrag, and a small bar of soap) will be provided on arrive for the duration of your stay. (You may want to bring additional towels).  Basic bedding (1 pillow, bed spread or blanket, and mattress pad) are also provided.

You will need to supply your own personal health and beauty aids (shampoo, toothpaste, etc.) Free laundry facilities are available in the dorm, but detergent is not provided.

From St. Louis Lambert International Airport:

Public transit: Take the MetroLink Red Line to the Grand station stop.

Uber and Lyft ridesharing services are also available.

 

From St. Louis Gateway Station (Amtrak and Greyhound):

Public transit: Take the MetroLink Red or Purple Line to Grand station or Bus 10 from the Civic Transit Center on 15th St to CWE Transit Center (13 stops).

Nearby Attractions
FOREST PARK

Less than a mile west of campus, Forest Park is home to the St. Louis Art Museum, Science Center and Planetarium, Missouri History Museum and St. Louis Zoo (including Jungle Boogie, a Live Music Series on Friday evenings)- all offering free admission.  The free shuttle that ferries visitors around the park is a must on hot summer days.


THE MUNY THEATER

Also in Forest Park, The Muny will be showing Annie the week of July 18-25.  Ticket prices range from $100-$15, with limited free seating offered in the last 3 rows.  Free seats fill up quickly, so plan to arrive a couple hours in advance.

THE GROVE

Home to over 50 restaurants, bars and shops, the Grove is a center for LGBTQ life in St. Louis.  Sample global cuisine, visit a local microbrewery, see a show or dance the night away in this growing commercial district about 1 mile southwest of SLU.

THE LOOP

About 12 minutes north west of SLU, the Loop is full of energy and vibrant sights--starting below your feet, with famous locals like Yogi Berra, T.S. Eliot, and Tina Turner on the star-lined path of the St. Louis Walk of Fame.  Look up and you'll see the lights of the Tivoli Theatre, the Pageant (music venue), and Pin-Up Bowl.

THE HILL

Ten minutes by cab from SLU, St. Louis's historic Italian-American neighborhood features the city's best Italian restaurants and shops.

EXPLORE ST. LOUIS

Get all the information you need about visiting the city's many historic sites, and of course, the Arch.  Favorites include the National Blues Museum and The City Museum.
